If you ask anyone in Kalispell where to find the most iconic slice of pizza in town, you’ll end up at the same place every time, Moose’s Saloon. It’s a dark, quirky, unmistakably Montana experience that has been feeding locals, families, and hungry adventurers for decades. And for our family, it’s the place we take every visitor who comes to town. One visit and you’ll understand why.

Walking into Moose’s feels like stepping straight into an Old West saloon. The building has stood on Main Street for more than a century and has operated as a bar since 1957. Today, it still holds onto all that rustic charm: swinging saloon doors, red glowing lights, carved wooden booths, and a floor covered in sawdust and peanut shells. (A heads-up for anyone with peanut allergies!) See their full story: Here.
The walls, beams, and booths are carved top to bottom with names and initials from the thousands of people who’ve visited over the years. You’ll find everything from “Calvin, Your Next Door Neighbor” to hearts, dates, and plenty of creative inscriptions left by locals and travelers alike. It’s impossible not to look around and imagine all the stories that unfolded inside those walls.

Moose’s is known for simple, hearty, delicious pizza. It’s got crispy crust, generous toppings, and that classic Montana no-frills style. But the standout favorite in our house is the sausage and sauerkraut pizza. Yes… sauerkraut. And yes… it’s so much better than you’re imagining. The tangy sauerkraut, savory sausage, and perfectly baked crust blend together in a way that surprises every skeptic. It’s the one pizza we order every time, and it has converted many Moose’s newcomers.
If you’re craving something fresh, their spinach and strawberry salad with candied walnuts is a surprisingly great option. Perfect on warm summer evenings after a day of exploring the Flathead Valley.

Moose’s is the kind of place where you grab a pitcher of beer, toss peanut shells on the floor, and settle in for a relaxed meal with your favorite people. It’s loud in the best way—kids laughing, teenagers carving their initials, families sharing giant pizzas, and locals who’ve been coming here for generations.
Whether it’s the end of a long day in Glacier National Park or the first stop when guests fly in, Moose’s always hits the spot
